Welcome to the home of Pragmatic Astrology, the astrological practice of Karen Hawkwood!

Astrology is a multi-faceted discipline developed over 2,500 years of practice and experimentation by a series of cultures and practitioners. As a system it can address issues that range from a good time to sell one's house to relationship challenges, and even spiritual questions.

In 26 years of study and practice, I have found that my preferred use of astrology is as a tool for greater self-understanding, in combination with the psychological insights of Carl Jung and his tradition. Astrology helps describe the "map" inside each human being, and psychology helps provide insight about how a person's life circumstances have shaped the expression of that map.

While this work can range far and wide in its course towards understanding and insight, I believe that it can only prove effective if it also proves practical - in other words, these insights must be relevant and applicable to improving a person's daily life. I work to help my clients see themselves more clearly, and therefore simplify and reorganize their lives to more accurately reflect each person's core Self - a process that tends to result in a stronger sense of well-being and contentment.
